Hello, lovely people! How is the weather at your end?
We are into March already! As soon as I think of March I start thinking of spring. The season of new beginnings for Mother Nature. After the hard, cold winter finally the leaves will sprout and the trees will be full of beauty. The days will be longer and brighter.
We had some snow showers this morning and I must say no matter how many times it comes I still love snowfall. It is magical each and every time it falls. All seasons come with a beauty of their own.
Officially the first day of spring is 20th March but it feels like Mother Nature can’t wait for that long anymore.
Last year me and my husband planted some tomatoes, coriander and green chilies in our kitchen garden. We cleared the garden in winters. And this week, I saw some new baby coriander sprouting from the seeds that had fallen into the soil last year.
Aren’t they adorable! I am looking forward to planting some new herbs this year as well. So if nature can’t wait why should we? Let’s celebrate this beautiful season in watercolors.
I am starting with a new Sketch On Saturday series on 12th March- Celebrating Spring. I will be posting one step by step tutorial each Saturday so that anyone of you who loves watercolors but is unable to find time during the work week can easily fit in this painting session in your weekend.
Below is a list of suggested materials for the series.
1. A watercolor sketchbook/ sketchpad (140lb, 300gm)
2. A bowl for water
3. A soft tissue for blotting
4. A set of watercolor paints (tubes or blocks)
5. A pallet to mix colors
6. A tissue roll to dab excess paint from brush
7. A masking tape to secure sheet on a drawing board (optional)
8. Round watercolor brushes in size 1, 5 – do not worry if you have brushes in size one above or below!
9. HB pencil for drawing
10. Eraser
As always the series is FREE for anyone to join. So go ahead and schedule a painting session with yourself or even with your friends and family in your own comfort zone!
