Throwback 2015

Hello, lovely artists! I wish you all a very happy new year 2016. I hope you all are back to work after a fun-filled holiday season. It’s been a while since I last updated on my blog. A lot has been happening lately. The month of December was filled with fun and laughter with friends. We had a few trips here and there. I also finished my Gem Identification lab classes in New York this December.

Well, I am back in the studio again. I have been making a few goals for 2016. But before sharing those let me take you through some of my accomplishments of 2015. We tend to always think of the future and hardly take the time to appreciate what we accomplished in the past. So I really suggest you to sit back and take a look at what you actually gained in the last year. It surely helps to make yourself start the New Year on a better note!

The Year 2015 was filled with a lot of surprises for me. One of the biggest ones was to start this blog in the month of March! I always wanted to start a blog, it was on my mind but it came to reality with the support of my husband in 2015. I was more than energized to produce new blog content every Saturday. And with it came my first set of subscribers. What a feeling! Thank you guys for liking my artwork and trusting me with the skills.

I completed the Animals series in pencil. Then went ahead with 3 more tutorial series:

  • Trees (pencil)
  • Fruits (watercolor)
  • Vegetables (watercolor)

All were so fun to paint. I hope you enjoyed them too. The small projects surely helped me be consistent in the studio. Although I did fine with tutorials it was the personal projects that lacked my attention. I got busy with the studies (Colored Stones) and this blog was something new for me. Now when I am comfortable with the blog I can actually think of balancing my personal projects along with the tutorials!

Below you can see the collage of some of my artworks from 2015.

I have been thinking a lot and came up with a few goals for this year.

1. I want to keep learning and practicing new skills.

2. I want to know other artists and make friends with them.

3. I need to do regular marketing of my work (I lack in this one).

4. Balance my blog and personal artwork (a big one this year!).

5. Finish off a few incomplete projects from last year.

That summarizes my overall focus areas for 2016. I promise to be consistent with the blog and provide you with a lot of fun watercolor tutorials this year too. I would love to hear any suggestions from you as well. Let me know what topics you want me to make tutorials on.  After all, this blog is for you guys.

Apart from this, the year 2016 is going to be a special one for me. I will be graduating with my Graduate Gemologist diploma this year end. I am excited!

And here is a New Year gift just for you. I am starting with another series in watercolor next week. So stay connected and SUBSCRIBE to my blog if you are new here.

So with the hope of a beautiful year ahead, I am signing off and wishing you all good luck. May this year bring a lot of joy and success in your lives as well.

Happy painting!

Swati
