About Me I am a self taught artist with a passion for water colors. Born in India, I was always attracted to the beauty of vibrant colors and deep hues of the cultural festivals. At the age of five I started drawing freehand looking at various story book pictures. Luckily I was born in a very supportive family. They provided me with all the materials I wanted to explore and never forgot to compliment me on my work, which further motivated me and built in me the confidence to continue.

I am a beginner watercolorist and always feel dissatisfied with my paintings, I feel they don't have the airiness associated with watercolor. I hope you will start posting landscape lessons too! I was wondering whether you are willing to critique amateur paintings? Thank you so much! Hope I will get your help in persuing water color paintings. I have one doubt i.e. Could the paintings be done during night times? By the by you're a great artist, why you have shown interest on Gemology? Are you staying in New york or in India? Reply if you can. Reply Swati Apr 24 2016 10:28 am ...more than 8 years ago http://www.swatisinghstudio.com @Sundaram Madduri hello and thank you for such wonderful comments! I am happy to know you are interested in watercolors. One of the reasons I have kept all my tutorials free is that I want everyone to enjoy the medium during their free time. I prefer painting in natural daylight, but I understand that it is not always possible to do in our busy schedule. You can definitely paint at night. All you need is a daylight equivalent light bulb so that your judgement of colors is as accurate as possible. I am a jewellery designer by proffesion hence my love for gems is inevitable. Gemology is whats assisiting me in my career. Watercolors on the other hand is my dearest hobby. Hence, I like sharing what I know with you all through this blog. Currently I am living in Washington, D.C. Thank you for showing interest. Wishing you all the best! Isabelle Aug 31 2015 06:57 pm ...more than 9 years ago What a wonderful tutorial.. Last year I did 3 paintings, 1 each of rhubarb, squash & corn/beans for my kitchen. I had so much trouble with the purple shades.(which were in all of the backgrounds) Wish I had seen your work then. I am going to try the onion/garlic. I love your teaching style. Isabelle Reply Swati Aug 31 2015 09:47 pm ...more than 9 years ago Hi @Isabelle! Thank you so much for liking the tutorial. I am glad it was helpful to you. Yes purples can get a bit confusing sometimes but they are simply a combination of blues and reds in different proportions!Let me know about your painting, I am sure your onion and garlic will turn out great :)
